Reflection on Retreat Theme “Joy and Fervor” Hawaii Community – June 7 – 12

The sweetness of the LOVE of Christ was my keyword to summarise the nine conferences of the Retreat. Christ is the centre, while he reflects and shines to give us light. He is the Light of the world that illumines the mind, the way and the heart. The light that shines in the darkness, our darkness and the darkness of the world.

The Call to holiness in the Lumen Gentium is the light that was gifted from the Risen Christ in our baptism and moreover in our consecrated life. It is the call to live and die with him. The perfect imitation of Christ is to live in communion with him.

The greatest commandment reminds us of our role in the discipline of discipleship. The commitment between Jesus and us. Call to follow the Lord till the end of our lives. Focus our eyes and keep our hearts close to him. Perfect love – the bond of perfection, the life-transforming connection of our heart to the heart. Perfect and unique example we see in the union of hearts of Jesus and Mary, not two but ONE. Mary at the foot of the cross – standing – Saint Paul in Ephesians – Stand firm and strong against the enemy. She is the first and true disciple. Joy and fervour unite to give us a true passion, profound happiness and great enthusiasm to follow Jesus till death, because death is the beginning of our Light, Love and Life

Jesus said to Peter, “Do you love me?” “Whoever wishes to follow me, deny himself and follow me……” Our conversion of heart is when God share is divine life with us. The dynamic work of God in the lives of the Saints. Saint John – God loved us first; sin is the denial of God’s goodness. (John the Baptist saw Jesus and exclaimed – This is the lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. St. Paul, God sent his Son to save me. He loved me and gave his life for me. It is not I who live, but Jesus lives in me.

Our religious life is a deep and profound call of God and the offering of oneself as a generous and profound response of love. There is no Joy and Fervor without Faith, Joy in the complexity of our lives. (Joy and peace in the midst of sufferings.). Fervour is a divine power and energy for being joy, cultivated by trusting in God. GOD IS LOVE.
