Advent Season – A Reflection from Brazil
‘Therefore, you too must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.’ (Mt 24,44)
This year’s Advent is approaching. Every year, we prepare for the coming of our Saviour, who became man like us. We prepare our hearts, minds and attitudes so that we may be better able to welcome the baby Jesus. Spiritually, we prepare ourselves as shown by the four candles of Advent.
Each week, we commit ourselves to prayer, such as a novena, and to concrete actions. During Advent, our parish prepares for the patron saint’s feast day together throughout December. The community of sisters organises clothing donations for children in need. We distribute basic food to the poor.
God loves us so much that he gave us his only Son, and we love by helping those most in need, the poor who do not know who Love is. Jesus calls us to always be “ready”.
Let us pray for peace in the world.
