A Beautiful Moment of Sisterhood: Mother Christine’s Visit to Hawaii

The Hawaii Community of the Missionary Sisters of Faith was blessed and grateful to welcome Mother Christine, Superior General of the Congregation, for a meaningful time of prayer, fellowship, and spiritual encouragement. Her presence brought joy to the sisters and strengthened our sense of unity as they continue to live out our missionary vocation in service to the Church and the people of Hawaii.

One of the highlights of her visit was Mother Christine’s official visit to Christ the King Parish in Kahului, Maui, to inaugurate the Congregation’s new mission. As part of this initiative, Sr. Julia Ieru has been assigned to undertake apostolic work and serve the parish community. This new mission extends the apostolic presence of the Hawaii Community and marks an important step in its continued service to the local Church.

The sisters warmly welcome Sr. Julia and recognise her generous response to this missionary assignment. Her arrival brings renewed enthusiasm and creates new opportunities for collaboration in serving the parish community. United in faith, prayer, and a shared missionary spirit, the sisters look forward to working together to carry out the Congregation’s mission with love, dedication, and hope.

Another important moment was the meeting with Bishop Michael Castori, S.J., of the Diocese of Honolulu, accompanied by Sr. Mary, Superior of the Hawaii Community. This encounter provided an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Congregation and the local Church and to reaffirm the sisters’ commitment to their apostolic service in Hawaii.

The gathering also offered precious opportunities for prayer, personal sharing, and fraternal fellowship. Although the sisters serve in different places and encounter the particular challenges of the respective missions, we remain united by our common faith, religious vocation, and commitment to the Congregation’s charism. The time together was a beautiful reminder that the bond of religious sisterhood transcends geographical distance and is sustained by prayer, mutual support, and a shared love for Christ.

Through her care, guidance, and fraternal closeness, Mother Christine offered spiritual encouragement to the Hawaii Community. Her visitation reminded us that our individual ministries are part of the larger mission of the Congregation, sustained by the prayers and solidarity of the sisters throughout the world. This renewed sense of communion strengthened our enthusiasm for our vocation and our commitment to serving the people entrusted to our care.

As the visit concluded, the Hawaii Community expressed its heartfelt appreciation to Mother Christine for sharing in the sisters’ life and mission. Her presence was a tangible expression of the love and communion that unite the Congregation, leaving the community with cherished memories and renewed spiritual strength.

As we continue our missionary journey in Hawaii, we carry forward this encouragement with faith and hope. We pray that the Lord will bless Mother Christine with wisdom, peace, and strength in her leadership as Superior General. May Mary, the Blessed Mother, under the title Virgo Fidelis (Faithful Virgin), continue to guide and protect her, and may the Holy Spirit inspire her with faith, courage, and openness as she leads the Congregation according to God’s will.
