Annual Spiritual Retreat in Pesche (IS)
From 19 to 25 July 2026, a week of Spiritual Exercises was held at the “Cenacolo delle Sorelle Faioli” Retreat House in Pesche (IS), Italy. The retreat was led by Fr. Luigi Lavecchia, OFM Cap., on the theme:
“We have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” (Mt 19:27)
God’s gift in response to the gift of our consecration.
The experience was attended by women religious from various Congregations, united by the desire to live an intense time of prayer, listening to the Word of God, and spiritual renewal. Sixteen Missionary Sisters of Faith participated on behalf of our Congregation, together with the Superior General, who shared this precious spiritual journey with us.
The reflections and meditations guided the participants to rediscover the beauty of their vocation, reminding them that every call originates from God’s initiative: He passes by, sees, loves, chooses, and calls. Consecrated life was contemplated as a response to the Lord’s prevenient gift—a response that is renewed each day through listening to the Word, fraternal communion, humble service, and faithfulness to the mission entrusted to us.
A particularly meaningful reflection focused on living consecration in the light of the Paschal Mystery. The Risen Christ continues to enter into our fears and weaknesses, giving us His peace and renewing our hope. From this encounter springs the mission of every consecrated person: to be a witness to the Resurrection and to bring the light of the Gospel wherever there is discouragement, loneliness, and suffering.
This week of grace was a privileged opportunity for all to renew their personal “yes” to the Lord, allowing themselves once again to be challenged by His question: “Whom are you seeking?” and responding with a life increasingly rooted in Christ, lived in fraternal communion, and open to the service of the Church and humanity.
With gratitude, we entrust to the Lord the fruits of these days, praying that what has been sown in our hearts may continue to grow through daily faithfulness and the joy of consecrated life. We return to our communities with renewed hearts, grateful for the gift received and eager to bring into our daily lives all that the Lord has planted within us.
Strengthened by faith and inspired by the hope of the Risen Christ, we desire to continue, as Missionary Sisters of Faith, to be a sign of His presence and love in the world. We make our own the concluding invitation of Fr. Luigi Lavecchia:
“Be together and remain always in God. Be women of the Resurrection.”
