First Holy Communion on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi
In many parishes, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi is a special occasion for children to receive their First Holy Communion. After months of preparation, they joyfully approach the altar for the first time to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. This celebration is a moment of grace not only for the children but also for their families and the entire parish community.
As part of their apostolic mission in Vietnam, the SMF Sisters are actively involved in parish catechetical ministry. Together with the parish priest and the parish catechists, Smf sisters helping to prepare the children of Phú Lợi Parish for their First Holy Communion. The sisters assist by teaching catechism classes, helping the children understand the meaning of the Eucharist, guiding them in the examination of conscience, and preparing them for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through prayer, instruction, and personal accompaniment, they encourage the children to grow in faith and love for Jesus.
The celebration of First Holy Communion during Corpus Christi reminds us that Jesus remains with His people in the Blessed Sacrament, nourishing and strengthening us on our journey of faith. It is a beautiful witness to the living presence of Christ in the Church and in the hearts of the faithful.
Lord Jesus,
We thank You for the gift of the Holy Eucharist, the Bread of Life and the source of our strength. Bless the children who are preparing to receive You for the first time. Fill their hearts with faith, joy, and love. Guide their families, catechists, and all who accompany them on this sacred journey. May this celebration of Corpus Christi deepen our devotion to Your Real Presence and inspire us to follow You more faithfully each day.
Amen.
Anna Maria, smf
