Fifth Sunday of Easter 2026 “Do not let your hearts be troubled: faith and hope that sustain life”

On this Fifth Sunday of Easter, the Gospel introduces us to the powerful words of Jesus’ “Farewell Discourse.” In a moment marked by the imminent Passion, He addresses His disciples and each one of us with a simple yet profound invitation: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”

Even today, in the difficulties and uncertainties of life, these words resound with great strength. Jesus offers us two ways to overcome inner turmoil. The first is faith: to believe in Him means to trust, to entrust ourselves, and to recognise that we are not alone. When we rely on Christ, we find a living presence that supports us, listens to us, and accompanies every step of our journey.

The second is hope. Jesus reassures us: in the Father’s house, there is room for everyone, and He Himself is preparing a dwelling place for us. This promise enlightens our present and reminds us that we are pilgrims, called to a full and everlasting life in communion with God.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life”: with these words, Jesus shows us the path to follow. It is a concrete way, made of humble love, trust, prayer, and service to others. Following Him is not an abstract idea, but a daily choice expressed in small gestures and in the relationships of everyday life.

As a Christian community, we are called to live this faith authentically and to share it with others. Proclaiming the Gospel means bringing hope and witnessing through our lives that Christ is present and active in history.

Let us entrust ourselves to Him with sincere hearts: at every moment, especially in the most difficult ones, Jesus walks beside us and leads us toward full joy.
